My long-term research goal is to understand the mechanisms of basic cellular processes and utilize this knowledge for betterment of human health. As a PhD student in the lab of Dr. Maddika Subbreddy at Center for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) Hyderabad, India, I worked on the cellular ubiquitin proteasome system (UPS). The focus of my work was to identify non-canonical and novel roles of the UPS in cells and determine the importance of these processes in maintaining cell quality and overall organismal health. As an assistant instructor in the Mukhopadhyay lab, I am currently interested in studying the role of primary cilia in development and disease. Specifically, I am interested in understanding how proteins traffic to cilia and delineate the mechanisms involved in these processes. I am particularly interested in studying the role of ciliary trafficking with respect to ciliopathy phenotypes including renal cystogenesis.

Research Interest

  • Cellular Signaling
  • Posttranslational modifications including ubiquitination
  • primary cilia
  • Protein trafficking
