Biography

Aditi Mulgaonkar, Ph.D., is an Instructor of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and a member of its Radiology Research Division.

Originally from India, Dr. Mulgaonkar obtained a bachelor's degree in pharmacy from MET Institute of Pharmacy at the University of Mumbai. She then earned a doctorate in pharmaceutical sciences from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, Virginia, and received advanced training as a posdoctoral research fellow in drug interaction analysis at the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, in collaboration with the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, and then in molecular imaging at UT Southwestern.

Prior to joining the faculty in 2019, Dr. Mulgaonkar served as a senior research associate in the Cyclotron and Radiochemistry Program at UT Southwestern, where she assisted Dr. Xiankai Sun in the development and testing of theranostic macromolecules for molecular imaging and therapy.

Dr. Mulgaonkar's research interests include the development of radiotherapeutic nanoseeds for internal radiation therapy, theranostics for cancer detection, and antibody-based tumor detection using Positron Emission Tomography. Her investigations have led to the publication of 14 original articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Mulgaonkar is an active member of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging.

She also serves as a member of the editoral board for EC Pharmaceutical Science, and is a reviewer for several publications, including the International Journal of Nanomedicine, Journal of Biomedical Nanotechnology, Journal of NanobiotechnologyEC Pharmacology and ToxicologyOncoTargets and Therapy, Scientific Reports, and Drug Design, Development and Therapy.
