  • Magdalena Chlebicz, M.S. — The Reese Lab

    Magdalena Chlebicz earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in Biotechnology from Lodz University of Technology in Poland. She completed her master's thesis research at Ghent University in Belgium during Erasmus student exchange. In 2020, Magda was accepted into the Fulbright BioLab program and joined Dr. Susan Kovats's lab at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. There, she worked on a collaborative project investigating the impact of influenza virus infection on the murine demyelinating disease model, as well as a project exploring the innate immune system of nursing home residents. In 2023, Magda joined the graduate program at UT Southwestern and became a member of the Reese lab. In her free time, Magda enjoys reading, traveling, and assembling Lego sets balancing serious research with serious fun.

  • Anuja Bhatta, Ph.D. — The Reese Lab

    Anuja received her bachelor’s degree from the University of New Orleans and then joined University of Kansas for her graduate studies in the lab of Dr. Stephen H. Benedict. Her graduate work focused on studying earliest signaling differences between different costimulatory molecules in T cells. After her graduation, she joined Clinical Reference Laboratory in Kansas and worked on developing PCR based COVID-19 diagnostic assay. She then moved to Dallas and joined Dr. Matthais Wolf’s lab in UTSW where she studied mouse physiology to elucidate the role of different proteins in renal ion channel regulation and metabolism. In Reese lab, she will be working on helminth and herpesvirus coinfection. She is a passionate advocate for science education and outreach. Outside the lab, Anuja likes to watch movies, go for long walks in nature and try different cuisines from different countries.   • Maham Saeed, M.S. — The Reese Lab

    Maham is the first graduate student from Pakistan to be admitted to UT Southwestern Medical Center. She completed her Bachelor’s in Biotechnology and M.Phil in Molecular Biology from Pakistan and was a medalist in both degrees. She completed her M.Phil thesis at the Center of Excellence in Molecular Biology, Lahore, Pakistan. Her thesis project focused on studying viral oncogenesis caused by Human Papillomaviruses. Eager to continue her research in the field of virology, she joined Reese Lab in April 2023. Outside of the lab, she is an avid reader, a pasta-lover, and a self-taught makeup enthusiast.

  • Phillip Dryden — The Reese Lab

    Born and raised in Dallas, Phillip studied both biology and and English literature at Truman State University in Missouri. After graduating in 2018, he worked first as a lab assistant for eFFECTOR Therapeutics in San Diego and then as a freelance editor and technical writer. Phillip joined the Reese lab as our lab manager in June 2020. We are pretty sure he smiles, but we can’t be positive since we are all wearing masks all the time! Outside of work, he enjoys birdwatching, running, and writing.
