Abimbola Awodipe, M.D.

Abimbola Awodipe, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and a member of the Division of Geriatric Medicine. 

Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Awodipe received her medical degree from Awolowo College of Health Sciences, Ogun State University Teaching Hospital in Nigeria, and she completed internal medicine residency training at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. She then completed advanced training through a fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, and a mini-fellowship at Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, North Carolina. 

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Geriatric Medicine, Dr. Awodipe joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2004. She is currently the Medical Director of the Senior House Calls Program at Parkland Health & Hospital. She was previously the Medical Director at Logan County Correctional Center, Wexford Health Sources in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. 

Dr. Awodipe's research interest is geriatric care. Her investigations have resulted in an abstract in the American Geriatric Society and several Geriatrics Grand Rounds presentations. 

Dr. Awodipe is a faculty facilitator for medical students in the outpatient geriatrics elective rotation. She has also developed curriculum through the Donald W. Reynolds foundation grant for the Southwestern Aging & Geriatrics Education (SAGE) program. She also assisted in the development of the house calls curriculum.
