  • Biography

Kevin Cederberg, M.D. is an Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center with over 15 years of academic and clinical experience in Pediatric Radiology. Dr. Cederberg has extensively contributed to pediatric diagnostic imaging education, multidisciplinary collaboration, and research, with emphases on oncologic, musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary imaging while developing specific expertise in fluoroscopy, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and positron emission tomography.

Originally from Nebraska, Dr. Cederberg holds bachelor's degrees in biology and biochemistry from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. and completed his radiology residency and pediatric radiology fellowship training at UT Southwestern.

At Children’s Health, Dr. Cederberg serves as the Director of Pediatric Radiology Resident Education, supervising rotating residents from three residency programs. He is a core faculty member of the UTSW diagnostic radiology residency and the pediatric radiology fellowship, is the resident ambassador for the UTSW pediatric radiology rotation, and serves on the program evaluation and clinical competency committees of the residency and fellowship programs. Dr. Cederberg gives multiple well-regarded resident and fellowship lectures each year, develops the pediatric radiology curriculum for the residency and fellowship, has given clinical and radiology grand rounds, and has presented at local and regional conferences. He is a recipient of the UT Southwestern Diagnostic Radiology Residency Golden Apple Faculty Teaching Award and was nominated for the UT Southwestern GME Excellence Award.

Dr. Cederberg is a trusted clinical pediatric radiologist and has built strong multidisciplinary relationships. He helped to originate and is the primary pediatric radiologist for the musculoskeletal tumor multidisciplinary conference and is a valued participant of the solid tumor, surgical radiology-pathology, hepatic transplant, and pulmonary multidisciplinary conferences. Clinicians appreciate his detailed, tailored reports and frequently seek his expertise in consultation in the reading room.

At UT Southwestern, Dr. Cederberg's commitment to medical training is demonstrated by his participation on the Radiology Residency Recruitment, Curriculum, Program Evaluation, and Clinical Competency committees. He is also involved with the Pediatric Fellowship Clinical Competency and Program Evaluation committees.

Dr. Cederberg’s research activity is primarily in collaboration with pediatric oncology and is focused on musculoskeletal malignancies. He has investigated using imaging and machine learning tools to improve risk stratification in children with bone cancer. Dr. Cederberg is a member of the Diagnostic Imaging Committee of the Children’s Oncology Group and is a co-investigator in two active clinical trials involving metastatic osteosarcoma and metastatic Ewing sarcoma. He served on the Oncology Committee of the Society of Pediatric Radiology, was the first author of the joint COG / SPR White Paper on Imaging of Pediatric Bone Tumors, and is a member of the Osteosarcoma Workgroup and Global Representative Panel for the Osteosarcoma Adapted Management Guideline of the ARIA (Adapted Resource and Implementation Application) Guide.
