  • Biography

    Dr. Orhan Bukulmez is Chief of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He is also the Medical Director of the In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Program in our University Fertility and Advanced Reproductive Medicine practice.

    Prior to coming to UT Southwestern, Dr. Bukulmez served as the Division Director of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and the Medical Director of the IVF and Egg Donation programs at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida.

    A native of Turkey, Dr. Bukulmez graduated from the medical school at Hacettepe University in Ankara as valedictorian of his class. After completing medical school and residency, he joined the faculty at Hacettepe University where he reached the rank of Associate Professor with tenure before embarking on his career in the United States.

    Dr. Bukulmez carried out research in reproductive medicine focusing on endometriosis and ovarian physiology at Yale University where he also completed an internship in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Bukulmez completed additional residency training programs in obstetrics and gynecology at Southern Illinois University and The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, followed by a three-year fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

    Dr. Bukulmez is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology as well as in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. He has special interest and clinical expertise in assisted reproduction and minimally invasive surgery. His research interests include in vitro fertilization, endometriosis and genomic regulation in reproductive tissues. He has extensive experience in hysteroscopic surgery, laser and laparoscopic surgery, myomectomy and microsurgical tubal reversal.

    Dr. Bukulmez is a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and also holds memberships in the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the Society for Gynecologic Investigation, the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technologies.
