Biography Download Curriculum Vitae Michael Burton, M.D., M.S.P.H., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of General Internal Medicine. He is the Preoperative Clinic Medical Director at Parkland Health and Hospital System. Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Burton holds a bachelor's degree in biology with a concentration in neuroscience from the University of Texas at Dallas. He earned his medical degree at Texas Tech University School of Medicine in Lubbock. He completed internal medicine residency training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He then completed advanced training through the VA Quality Scholars Fellowship Program at the Birmingham VA Medical Center. He also holds a master of science in public health in outcomes research from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Burton joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2010. At UT Southwestern, Dr. Burton is a Colleges Mentor. Dr. Burton's clinical interests include caring for hospitalized patients and surgical patients. Dr. Burton is a member of the American College of Physicians, the Society of Hospital Medicine, the Society for General Internal Medicine, and the Dallas County Medical Society.
