Sujata Bhushan, M.D. Titles and Appointments Associate Program Director, Internal Medicine Residency Clinical Professor School Medical School Department Internal Medicine Biography Sujata Bhushan, M.D., is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of General Internal Medicine. Originally from India, Dr. Bhushan earned her bachelor's degree from Bhopal University and her medical degree from Gandhi Medical College, where she completed postdoctoral training in anesthesiology. She then obtained internal medicine residency training from Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, Connecticut. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Bhushan joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2002. She currently serves as s staff physician at the Veterans Affairs North Texas Health Care System. At UT Southwestern, Dr. Bhushan is involved in the Patient Care Aligned Team (PACT) Team Attending Prime Clinic and the VA Internal Medicine Site Clerkship Director at the Dallas VA Medical Center. She's also a mentor in the colleges at UT Southwestern. She is currently the Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine residency program and the Co-Chair of the Trainee Membership Subcommittee of Supporting Women Achieving Greatness (SWAG). Dr. Bhushan is on several committees at UT Southwestern Medical Center, including the Committee for Clinical Competency, the Program Evaluation Committee for Internal Medicine Residency, the Associate Program Directors' Committee, and the Distinct Clinical Skills Course Planning Subcommittee for the medical colleges. She's also a medical staff member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee through the Dallas VA Medical Center. Dr. Bhushan is a member of multiple professional societies, including the American Medical Association, the Society of General Internal Medicine, and the Society of Bedside Medicine. She was a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Internal Medicine for several years. She is currently the Principal Investigator of a SAGE grant-funded project looking at the utilization of the Geriatric Assessment Tool in ambulatory care settings to improve the quality of patient care provided by resident trainees. Dr. Bhushan is the Co-Principal Investigator in a clinical trial study with the Million Veterans' Program and the Co-Principal Investigator for Veterans' pain care organizational improvement comparative effectiveness (VOICE/PCORI). She is also the Co-Principal Investigator for a double-blind study on the efficacy and safety of Ad26.COV2.S vaccine for the prevention of SARS-CoV-2 mediated COVID-19 in adults. Personal Note Dr. Bhushan's interests outside of medicine include volunteering at the Texas Indian Physicians Society free clinic.
