Biography

Dr. Victor Beshay joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology’s Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility in 2008.

Fluent in English and Arabic, Dr. Beshay was born in Alexandria, Egypt and received his GCE (General Certificate of Education) degree from the University of London, UK. Dr. Beshay has made the U.S. his permanent home since 1994.

In 2001, Dr. Beshay received his medical degree from the East Carolina University School of Medicine in Greenville, North Carolina, where his academic achievements were recognized with numerous awards and scholarships.

During his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at UT Southwestern/Parkland Memorial Hospital, Dr. Beshay continued to excel scholastically, and he received the Excellence in Medical Student Teaching Award four years in a row. Following residency, Dr. Beshay remained in Dallas, completing a three-year fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at UT Southwestern.

Board certified in both obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility, Dr. Beshay is a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.

Among his research interests is the study of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) – a hormonal disorder that can affect a woman’s ability to become pregnant. He and Dr. Bruce Carr have identified a transcription factor that may lead to new options for treating this disease.

Dr. Beshay’s clinical interests include assisted reproduction, in vitro fertilization (IVF), fertility preservation, minimally invasive surgery including microsurgical tubal reversal, and fertility-sparing procedures including myomectomy.
