Elizabeth Hamilton, M.D., specializes in acute care and emergency surgery as well as general surgery using both laparoscopic and traditional open methods. 

Dr. Hamilton earned her medical degree at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. She then completed a residency in general surgery and a fellowship in laparoscopic research at UT Southwestern. 

Board certified in general surgery, Dr. Hamilton joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2017. Here, she serves as Director of Acute Care and Emergency Surgery at William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital and as a Quality Officer for the Department of Surgery. 

She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Medical Association, the American Board of Surgery, and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.

Dr. Hamilton’s research interests include quality improvement and quality assessment.
