Christopher Perkins, DMSc Titles and Appointments Assistant Professor School School of Health Professions Department Physician Assistant Studies Biography Christopher Perkins is a board-certified Physician Associate (PA) who earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies from Rhodes College in 2013. He went on to earn his Master of Physician Assistant Studies from UT Southwestern Medical Center in 2019. He later completed his Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) degree at the University of Lynchburg in 2022, where he focused on advancing clinical and academic excellence in PA education. Prior to joining the faculty at UT Southwestern in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies, Dr. Perkins practiced in general pediatrics for five years. During this time, he provided care to diverse pediatric populations with a focus on preventive medicine, adolescent health, and health education. His clinical work strengthened his passion for health equity and mentorship, particularly in supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals from underrepresented backgrounds. Dr. Perkins'sĀ academic interests include physician assistant education, simulation-based learning, pediatric obesity and nutrition, and the integration of community-focused pediatric care into clinical training. He is committed to creating inclusive, student-centered learning environments and values the role of mentorship in shaping compassionate, competent clinicians. In addition to his teaching and mentoring roles, Dr. Perkins is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) and the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA). He is an advocate for diversity in the health professions and is dedicated to the development of future leaders, educators, and agents of change in medicine.
