Dr. Sumpter joined the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology as an Assistant Professor in 2009.  She obtained her medical degree at U.T. Southwestern Medical Center in 2003.  She stayed in Dallas and completed her Pediatrics residency and Pediatric Endocrinology fellowship at U.T. Southwestern as well.  She is currently the Medical Director for the Children’s Health Diabetes Program and the Director of Clinical Research for the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology.  She also serves as Medical Director of Faculty and Research for Camp Sweeney, a residential camp for children with diabetes located near Gainesville, TX.  Her research focuses on improved clinical care for, and prevention of, type 1 diabetes.
