  • Biography

    Ikenna Kingsley Emelogu, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a Member of the Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases. His clinical interests include medical education, advanced endoscopy, pancreaticobiliary disorders, and colorectal cancer. He is grateful for the opportunity as a gastroenterologist to combine clinical diagnosis with therapeutic interventions when providing patient-centered care, ultimately striving for consistent patient satisfaction and improving quality of life.

    Dr. Emelogu holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Houston. He earned his medical degree from the McGovern Medical School at UT Health Science Center at Houston and completed internal medicine residency training at Baylor College of Medicine. He went on to obtain specialized fellowship training in gastroenterology at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia.

    Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2024.

    Dr. Emelogu's research interests include pancreaticobiliary disorders, management of pancreatic cancer, and endoscopic therapy for colorectal cancer. These have led to several publications in peer-reviewed journals as well as numerous presentations at local and national conferences.

    Dr. Emelogu is active in several professional societies, including the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the Association of Black Gastroenterologists and Hepatologists.

    Dr. Emelogu's interests outside of medicine include playing soccer, binge-watching television shows, and spending time with family and friends.
