  • Biography

    Pedro González Jiménez, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

    He previously was an Assistant Professor at the Emory University School of Medicine and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where he completed fellowships in pediatric ultrasound and pediatric urgent care as an urgent care physician. Dr. González Jiménez earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Puerto Rico and completed his residency in pediatrics with a global health track at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut.

    His research interests include projects on immunization rates in high-risk children, reducing antibiotic duration for pediatric urinary tract infections, and vaccinations in children with chronic kidney disease. His work on hospital medicine has been published, and he has presented at national and international conferences.

    Dr. González Jiménez joined the faculty in 2026. He is fluent in English and Spanish and has facilitated pediatric health education for Spanish-speaking families and medical students. Dr. González Jiménez is a member of the Academic Pediatric Association (APA), for which he chairs the Urgent Care Special Interest Group and organizes the annual Urgent Care section for the Pediatric Academic Societies meeting.

    He also is the founder and CEO of a nonprofit that delivers healthcare to underserved pediatric populations internationally.
