  • Biography

    Avery (Alex) Green, M.D., is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of Hospital Medicine.

    Originally from Conway, Arkansas, Dr. Green holds a bachelor's degree in biochemistry with a minor in economics from the University of Arkansas. He earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and completed his residency in internal medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he refined his skills in managing complex inpatient cases and leading multidisciplinary care teams.

    Dr. Green’s research interests span hepatology, cardiovascular disease, and applied clinical problem‑solving. His work includes a retrospective cohort study on Fontan‑associated liver disease aimed at improving staging and identifying preventive strategies for patients with concomitant heart failure, as well as clinical research examining rate‑ versus rhythm‑control strategies in heart failure complicated by atrial fibrillation. He has also explored diagnostic optimization in forensic fingerprint analysis and developed case‑based clinical investigations, such as those addressing Page kidney–related secondary hypertension and Legionella‑associated rhabdomyolysis and acute kidney injury.

    Personal Note

    Outside of medicine, Dr. Green enjoys reading about U.S. history, watching movies, playing sports, watching the Dallas Mavericks, and spending time with family and friends.
