  • Biography

Dr. Barron earned her Ph.D. from UT Health San Antonio, where she completed her dissertation on electrophysiological implications of neuron-glial interactions. She subsequently underwent postdoctoral training at Stanford University, where she studied neuron-to-glioma synaptic communication. Dr. Barron is currently a Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) Scholar in Cancer Research and Assistant Professor in the Pathology Department at UT Southwestern. The Barron lab applies the tools of cellular and synaptic neurophysiology to understand how cancer disrupts neural circuit function and hijacks mechanisms of neural activity to promote tumor growth.
