Minsun Kim, Ph.D. Titles and Appointments Professor School Medical School Department Radiation Oncology Biography Minsun Kim, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology’s Division of Medical Physics & Engineering. She joined UT Southwestern after serving as a Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Washington and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. Dr. Kim earned her bachelor's degree in physics at Ewha Womans University and her master's degree in applied physics and applied mathematics at Columbia University. Dr. Kim earned her Ph.D. in applied mathematics from the University of Washington, where she began her academic medical physics career as an Assistant Professor and advanced through promotion to Associate Professor and then Professor. Throughout her career, Dr. Kim has focused on pioneering research in innovative treatment planning paradigms, including the development of a mathematical framework for spatiotemporally optimal radiotherapy and patient response-guided adaptive radiotherapy planning. Her research interests center on improving treatment efficacy by systematically balancing competing factors in cancer therapy, as well as enhancing workflow efficiency and patient safety through automation and systematic optimization.
