  • Biography

    Daniel Addison, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of Cardiology, where he serves as the Director of Translational Research. He is also Associate Director for Survivorship and Outcomes Research in the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center. He holds the Audre and Bernard Rapoport Chair in Cardiovascular Research.

    Dr. Addison holds a bachelor’s degree from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He earned his medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, and completed internal medicine residency training at Baylor College of Medicine, where he also received advanced training through a fellowship in cardiology. He then completed a T32 research fellowship focused on advanced imaging and cardio-oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

    Prior to joining the UT Southwestern faculty in 2025, Dr. Addison served as an Associate Professor at The Ohio State University, where he was Director of the Cardio-Oncology Program. During his tenure, he obtained three R01 awards allowing him to study mechanisms linking cancer treatments with cardiovascular disease, and interventions to mitigate or prevent these complications in multicenter clinical trials.

    Dr. Addison has published more than 140 original research articles and led or participated in multiple key scientific statements from the American Heart Association (AHA). He has also served in multiple leadership roles within the AHA, International Cardio-Oncology Society, American College of Cardiology, National Cancer Institute Alliance, and he was recently elected to the American Society of Clinical Investigation.
