  • Biography

    Carrie Moore, M.D., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in pediatric esophageal and thoracic surgery, pediatric surgical oncology, and general pediatric surgery.

    Dr. Moore earned her medical degree and a doctoral degree in human genetics at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine through the Medical Scientist Training Program. She completed a general surgery residency at Duke University Medical Center and gained advanced training through a fellowship in pediatric surgery at Texas Children’s Hospital.

    Certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Moore joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2024.

    She has studied contributions of rare genetic variants to disease, helped establish large database studies for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and contributed to many clinical outcome studies. She is interested in the evolution of health record data and how we can use this data to improve care delivery for pediatric surgical patients.

    She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Surgeons, the American Pediatric Surgical Association, and the Association of Women Surgeons. She has delivered presentations and published academic articles related to her areas of expertise.
