  • Biography

    Averi Adams, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern and a member of its Division of Hospital Medicine. 

    Originally from Dallas, Dr. Adams holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. She received her medical degree from UT Health San Antonio, where she also obtained internal medicine residency training. She then completed the National Center for Patient Safety's Chief Resident for Quality and Safety Program through Audie Murphy VA and UT Health San Antonio.

    Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2024.

    Dr. Adams' clinical interests include point-of-care ultrasound, quality improvement and patient safety, global medicine, medical humanities, bedside procedures, and advocating for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

    She is a member of the American College of Physicians, Society of Hospital Medicine, American Medical Association, and Dallas County Medical Society. Dr. Adams also holds a certification in point-of-care ultrasound from the Society of Hospital Medicine and the American College of Chest Physicians. She has taught ultrasound on the national level, including at the American College of Physicians’ annual conference.

    Personal Note

    When she’s not at work, Dr. Adams enjoys traveling, reading, creating art, doing yoga, playing with her dog and cat, and spending time with family and friends.
