  • Biography

    Amir Toor, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of Hematology and Oncology. He specializes in autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation and cellular immunotherapy for hematological malignancies, graft-versus-host disease, and transplant immunology.

    Dr. Toor earned his medical degree at King Edward Medical University in Lahore, Pakistan. He completed a residency in internal medicine at UConn Health and its affiliated hospitals and gained advanced training through a hematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplantation fellowship at the University of Minnesota Medical Center.

    Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in hematology and internal medicine, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2025. He previously served as medical director of the Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program at the Lehigh Valley Health Network’s Topper Cancer Institute in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Prior to that, he held faculty appointments at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois, and the University of Arkansas in Little Rock.

    His research interests include optimizing immune recovery following donor stem cell transplantation, preventing cancer relapse, mathematical modeling of immune system recovery following stem cell transplantation, and the biology of blood cancers.

    Dr. Toor has delivered numerous presentations and published more than 100 abstracts and more than 90 peer-reviewed academic articles related to his areas of expertise.

    Personal Note

    When he’s not at work, Dr. Toor enjoys gardening, reading books on physics, and spending time with his family.
