  • Biography

Wojciech G. Lesniak, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center in The Department of Radiology and a member of its Research Division.

Originally from Glucholazy, Poland, Dr. Lesniak received his doctorate degree in Bioinorganic and Biomedical Chemistry from University of Wroclaw in Wroclaw, Poland. He then received advanced training as a Fellow at the Kresge Hearing Research Institute and Department of Chemistry at University of Michigan in Ann, Arbor, Michigan, followed by a fellowship at the Department of Internal Medicine in the Michigan Nanotechnology Institute for Medicine and Biological Sciences at University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He also served as a Fellow at the Department of Ophthalmology in the Center of Nanomedicine at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. Additionally, he completed the Science of Clinical Investigation Training Program at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland.

Before joining the faculty in 2024, Dr. Lesniak served as Director of the Radiometabolite Laboratory in the PET Center, and as an instructor, both within the Russel H. Morgan Department of Radiology and Radiological Science at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Dr. Lesniak focuses his research on the development of molecular imaging and theranostic agents for diagnosing and treating cancer and central nervous system diseases. He is particularly interested in imaging-guided cancer-targeted drug delivery, which provides crucial information to enhance therapeutic responses. By integrating advanced imaging modalities with targeted drug delivery systems, he aims to improve the precision and efficacy of treatments, ultimately contributing to personalized medicine approaches in oncology and neurology. His work has resulted in more than 90 peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals and presentations at professional conferences throughout the world.

Dr. Lesniak is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Material Research Society, the World Molecular Imaging Congress, and the Controlled Release Society.

During his spare time, Dr. Lesniak enjoys skiing, hiking, and all water sports.
