Kuan “Kevin” Zhang, Ph.D. Titles and Appointments Assistant Professor School Medical School Department Radiology Biography Kuan (Kevin) Zhang, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Radiology and a Diagnostic Medical Physicist in the Medical Physics division at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Zhang earned his bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). He then pursued a dual European Erasmus MSc in computational modeling from Swansea University in the United Kingdom and Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain, where he continued to obtain a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics. Transitioning to medical imaging artificial intelligence, Dr. Zhang received advanced training at the Mayo AI Lab as a Research Associate and completed the CAMPEP Accredited Certificate Program at the Mayo Clinic. Before joining the faculty at UT Southwestern in 2024, Dr. Zhang completed a diagnostic medical physics residency at the Mayo Clinic and served as an Assistant Professor of Radiology at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Zhang’s research focuses on mathematical modeling, AI, and radiological imaging analysis. He is particularly interested in developing novel machine learning algorithms and data-driven platforms to enhance clinical imaging tasks. Dr. Zhang’s work has resulted in more than 20 peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals, and he has served as Associate Editor of Radiology: Advances. Dr. Zhang is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Radiological Society of North America, American College of Radiology, and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine.
