  • Biography

    Katherine Kearney, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of Cardiology

    Dr. Kearney earned her medical degree at the University of Sydney in Australia. She received internal medicine residency training at St. Vincent's Hospital in Sydney, where she also completed fellowships in cardiology, pulmonary hypertension, and advanced heart failure and transplant to gain advanced training. She acquired additional training in adult congenital heart disease through a fellowship at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, and in adult congenital heart disease and advanced heart failure at Toronto General Hospital in Canada. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree at the University of New South Wales in Sydney.

    Certified by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in cardiology, Dr. Kearney joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2024.

    Dr. Kearney's research interests include adult congenital heart disease, advanced heart failure and transplantation, and pulmonary hypertension, especially the intersection of the three. Her investigations have led to publications in peer-reviewed journals and she has presented her findings at international and national conferences.

    Dr. Kearney is a member of several professional societies, including the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand, the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, the American College of Cardiology, and the American Heart Association. She is a former Board Chair of the Australian Medical Association.
