Hao Gao, Ph.D. Titles and Appointments Professor School Medical School Department Radiation Oncology Biography Hao Gao, Ph.D., is a Professor of Radiation Oncology and the Director of Physics Research at UT Southwestern Medical Center. His multidisciplinary program integrates advanced radiotherapy technologies—including proton therapy, spatially fractionated radiotherapy (SFRT), FLASH, and personalized PULSAR—with quantitative modeling, AI/ML, and mechanistic tumor–immune dynamics to guide individualized cancer treatment. He also leads the development of innovative treatment-planning, optimization, and computational frameworks aimed at shaping the next generation of precision radiation therapy.
