Biography Dr. Bitar received her MD degree from Aleppo University, Syria and completed a residency in pathology at Icahn School of Medicine, Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York. She obtained advanced fellowship training in Neuropathology (at the NY-Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University Medical Center), Molecular Genetic Pathology (at the David Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA) and Pediatric Pathology (at the Children's Hospital Los Angeles). Dr. Bitar serves as Director of Pediatric Neuropathology at Children's Medical Center, UTSW. Academic Focus: Dr. Bitar serves as a director of the pediatric neuropathology rotation of the neuropathology fellowship at the UTSW and served as the director of the brain autopsy interactive microscopy course at the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP) for 2025 & 2026. Prior to joining the UTSW, Dr. Bitar served as assistant director of the neuropathology fellowship program at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago. She has numerous peer-reviewed publications, and she serves as a reviewer for multiple peer-reviewed medical journals. Clinical Focus: Dr. Bitar is a pediatric pathologist, neuropathologist and molecular pathologist. She is board certified in Anatomic pathology, Neuropathology and Pediatric pathology by the American board of pathology.
