Biography

Anezi Uzendu, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and a member of its Division of Cardiology. He specializes in interventional cardiology, cardiac arrest care, and general cardiology.

Dr. Uzendu earned his medical degree at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine. He completed internal medicine residency training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital and received advanced training through fellowships in cardiovascular medicine Ohio State University Medical Center and interventional cardiology at Massachusetts General Hospital’s Corrigan Minehan Heart Center. He also completed a research fellowship in cardiovascular outcomes at Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology, Dr. Uzendu joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.

A member of the Systems of Care Subcommittee of the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Emergency Cardiovascular Care Committee, Dr. Uzendu has partnered with the AHA on multiple projects to advocate for heart health and awareness. He has also given several oral presentations and media interviews and has published in his areas of expertise.

In 2022, Dr. Uzendu earned the Young Investigator Award for the Resuscitation Science Symposium.

Personal Note

When not at work, Dr. Uzendu enjoys fitness, sports, live music, and faith-based activities.
