  • Biography

    Kareem K. Elfatairy, M.D., is an Assistant Professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Abdominal Imaging Division. His clinical interests include prostate MRI and MRI-guided interventions, image-guided biopsy, and i drainage.

    Originally from Port Said, Egypt, Dr. Elfatairy received his medical degree and residency training from Suez Canal University in Egypt. He also received radiology residency training at Yale New Haven Health-Bridgeport Hospital in Connecticut, followed by an Abdominal Imaging and Interventions fellowship program at Beth-Israel Deaconess Medical Center - Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts.

    Dr. Elfatairy focuses his research on prostate MRI and MRI-guided interventions. His work has resulted in several peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals and presentations at professional conferences throughout the country.

    Dr. Elfatairy is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Society of Advanced Body Imaging, the Radiological Society of North America, and the Society of Interventional Radiology. He serves as a reviewer for peer-reviewed journals including Radiology: imaging cancer, Abdominal radiology, and British journal for radiology. He has been awarded Editor’s recognition award for reviewing with distinction by Radiology: imaging cancer journal for two years in a row.
