  • Biography

    Olufunke Y. Martin, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology and Oncology at UT Southwestern Medical Center.  She joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.

     

    Dr. Martin earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from Brown University.  She received her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and completed her pediatric residency training at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Dr. Martin completed her pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., where she was a T32 scholar and recipient of the American Society of Hematology Minority Hematology Fellow Award. She is currently pursuing a Master of Clinical Research through the National Institute of Health-Duke University Clinical Research Training Program. 

     

    Dr. Martin’s clinical interest is pediatric hematology, emphasizing improving patient-centered outcomes for individuals with sickle cell disease (SCD) and multi-modal approaches to vaso-occlusive pain management.  Her research focuses on the dynamics of red blood cell physiology and vaso-occlusive pain, utilizing red blood cell health biomarkers to investigate the clinical heterogeneity seen in SCD.
