Biography
Mary Hernandez-Zhang, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of General Internal Medicine. Her clinical interests include obesity, wellness, and the management of chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension.
Dr. Hernandez-Zhang holds a bachelor's degree in biological sciences from the University of California Irvine. She earned her medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine in Palo Alto, California. She then completed internal medicine residency training at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Santa Clara, California.
Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Obesity Medicine, Dr. Hernandez-Zhang joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023. Before joining the faculty, Dr. Hernandez-Zhang worked in several Texas communities as an urgent care physician, a telemedicine physician, and a primary care physician.
At UT Southwestern, Dr. Hernandez-Zhang is a member of the Faculty Women's Club.
Personal Note
Outside of medicine, Dr. Hernandez-Zhang is active in her community. She is also fluent in Spanish, French, and Swedish.
