Biography Nilesh Verma, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and a member of its Division of Hematology and Oncology. Dr. Verma holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He received his medical degree from the American University of Antigua College of Medicine in Antigua and Barbuda, where he graduated magna cum laude. He then completed internal medicine residency training at MedStar Health in Baltimore, Maryland, followed by a fellowship in hematology and oncology at St. Louis University Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Board-certified in internal medicine, medical oncology, and hematology, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022. Previously, he practiced at the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center in Jacksonville, Florida, and Texas Oncology in Austin, Texas. He also performed a research internship under the supervision of Philippe Spies, MD, at the H. Lee Moffit Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Verma is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, and the National Cancer Institute. Personal Note Outside of medicine, Dr. Verma enjoys river rafting, playing and watching basketball and football, traveling, hiking, cycling, and walking his dog. He is also fluent in Gujarati and Hindi.
