Biography Maria Lepe-Suastegui, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases. Dr. Lepe-Suastegui earned her medical degree at the Autónomous University of Guadalajara in Mexico. She completed internal medicine residency training at Finch University of Health Sciences in Chicago, followed by a fellowship in digestive and liver diseases at the University of Illinois-Chicago. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in gastroenterology and transplant hepatology, Dr. Lepe-Suastegui joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022. Dr. Lepe-Suastegui is a member of several professional societies, including the National Hispanic Medical Association, the Dallas Medical Society, the American Society of Transplantation, the American Liver Foundation, the American Gastroenterology Association, and the American College of Physicians.
