Biography
Maï-Carmen Requena-Komuro, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and a member of the Division of Hematology and Oncology. She serves as Director of Research Administration for the Kidney Cancer Program.
Originally from France, she earned a “Diplôme d’Ingénieur,” equivalent to a M.Sc., in chemistry and chemical engineering from the École Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier (ENSCM) in Montpellier, France and an M.Sc. in neuroscience from the University of Oxford in England. She then completed a doctorate in clinical neurosciences under the supervision of Professor Jason Warren at the Dementia Research Centre at University College London. During her doctoral studies, she explored the importance of time perception changes in the diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia and primary progressive aphasia patients.
In addition to her diverse scientific background extending over multiple disciplines, she has strong organizational skills and experience in mentoring.
Personal Note
Outside of medicine, Dr. Requena-Komuro is deeply passionate about music, and is an active singer-songwriter and composer.
