Biography

Alva Roche-Green, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and a member of its Division of General Internal Medicine. She serves as Medical Director for Palliative Care at Parkland Hospital. Her clinical interests include symptom management to improve quality of life for patients receiving palliative care, and advanced are planning.

Originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Dr. Roche-Green holds a bachelor's degree in biological sciences from the University of New Orleans. She received her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine, and completed residency training in internal medicine and pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. She then obtained advanced training in palliative medicine through a fellowship program at the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biological Sciences in Jacksonville, Florida.

Board certified in internal medicine, pediatrics, and hospice and palliative medicine, Dr. Roche-Green joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022. Previously, she served as Medical Director of Palliative Medicine and Comprehensive Care at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus, and as Division Chief of Palliative Care and Geriatric Medicine at Inova Health System in Falls Church, Virginia.

Dr. Roche-Green is an active member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and is a fellow of both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Physicians.
