Biography

Ruchika Sharma, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in bleeding and clotting disorders in children, women’s hematology, and platelet disorders.

Dr. Sharma earned her medical degree at Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, India, and completed a residency in pediatrics at the University of Toledo in Ohio. She gained advanced training through a fellowship in pediatric hematology and oncology and pediatric hemostasis-thrombosis at The Ohio State University and its Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics in pediatrics and pediatric hematology and oncology, Dr. Sharma joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022. She previously served as a hematology faculty member at Versiti Wisconsin and Children’s Wisconsin in Milwaukee, specializing in patients with a variety of blood disorders.

Dr. Sharma is a member of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis and is co-chair of its Scientific and Standardization Subcommittee on Platelet Immunology. She is also a member of the Foundation for Women & Girls with Blood Disorders, the American Society of Hematology, the Pediatric ITP (Immune Thrombocytopenia) Consortium of North America, and the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Society.

She has delivered numerous presentations, contributed to American Academy of Pediatrics Textbook of Pediatric Care and other books, and published peer-reviewed academic articles related to her areas of expertise.
