Biography

Lauren Truby, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of Cardiology. She specializes in advanced heart failure and heart transplantation.

Dr. Truby earned her medical degree at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed internal medicine residency training at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She received advanced training through fellowships in cardiovascular disease at Duke University Medical Center and advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology at UT Southwestern.

She also holds a master’s degree in biostatistics from Duke University.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, Dr. Truby joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.

Dr. Truby has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and has presented her research at conferences across the globe. She is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, the American Society of Transplantation, and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation.

In 2021, Dr. Truby was named a Joseph C. Greenfield Scholar in Cardiology by Duke University. She is a current recipient of an American Heart Association Career Development Award and the Distinguished Researcher Award from the UT Southwestern President’s Research Council. She is also a UT Southwestern Dean’s Scholar in Clinical Research.

Personal Note

When not at work, Dr. Truby enjoys hiking, cycling, gardening, and spending time with her husband, Kyle, and their dog, Maggie.
