Biography Heather Fisher, M.S., CGC, is a Faculty Associate in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She also serves as the manager of UT Southwestern’s reproductive genetics team — the largest group of its kind in North Texas — where she specializes in genetic counseling for individuals who are pregnant or planning a pregnancy. Ms. Fisher earned her Master of Science in Genetic Counseling from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York in 2009. She spent a decade working as a prenatal genetic counselor in Manhattan and the San Francisco Bay Area, and later served in pediatric genetics and Down syndrome clinics at Children’s Medical Center Dallas before joining UT Southwestern in 2022. Passionate about expanding access to reproductive genetic counseling across the Dallas–Fort Worth region, Ms. Fisher is also actively involved in education and training. She contributes to the UT Southwestern Genetic Counseling Graduate Program and co-directs the Reproductive Genetics and Embryology course. Her research interests include reproductive genetic counseling outcomes, cell-free fetal DNA screening, and the impact of state and national legislation on genetic counseling practices.
