  • Biography

    Katie Truitt, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern and a member of its Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases.

    Dr. Truitt holds a bachelor’s degree in biology, which she earned summa cum laude, from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. She received her medical degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, and completed internal medicine residency training at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. She then obtained advanced training through a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at UT Southwestern.

    Dr. Truitt joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2025.

    Her clinical and research interests include hepatocellular carcinoma outcomes, liver transplant–related cardiovascular risk, and alcoholic hepatitis and liver disease trends.

    Dr. Truitt is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, the American Medical Association, and the American College of Gastroenterology.

    Personal Note

    When she's not at work, Dr. Truitt enjoys cooking, baking, patio gardening, and interior design.
