  • Biography

    Hal Kominsky, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology at UT Southwestern. He specializes in minimally invasive surgery for both benign and malignant genitourinary diseases. 
    Dr. Kominsky earned his medical degree from Temple University. After completing his urology residency at The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, he gained advanced fellowship training in minimally invasive surgery through the Department of Urology at UT Southwestern.  
    Dr. Kominsky’s clinical interests include minimally invasive surgery for urologic malignancies including prostate, kidney and adrenal cancers as well as complex kidney stone disease. He also has academic interests in surgical education and simulation. He has written peer reviewed journal articles, news pieces and book chapters on a broad range of topics including percutaneous ablation for kidney cancer, techniques for optimizing quality of life outcomes following robotic prostatectomy, and complications of percutaneous nephrolithotomy. He has presented his research at national and international conferences. 
    He is a member of the American Urological Association, Texas Urological Society, and Endourological Society. 
    Dr. Kominsky serves as clinical faculty at the Dallas VA Medical Center where he enjoys teaching residents and caring for veterans.
