Abhay Divekar, M.D.

Abhay Divekar, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. His research focuses on developing clinically relevant animal models.

Dr. Divekar earned his medical degree from Bombay University in India. He performed his residency in pediatrics at The Brooklyn Hospital Center in New York and then completed a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at New York University Medical Center and an advanced fellowship in interventional catheterization and cardiac critical care at CS Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2021.

He has presented and published extensively, including contributing to the books Catheter-Based Valve and Aortic Surgery and Indian Academy of Pediatrics Specialty Series on Pediatric Cardiology.

Dr. Divekar is a Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, for whom he serves as Co-Chair of the fall Fellows Course. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the Pediatric and Congenital Interventional Cardiovascular Society, and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
