Biography

Brenda Servais, Psy.D., LP, LCDC, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern. Originally from Minnesota, Dr. Servais earned her B.A. degree in Alcohol & Drug Counseling Education from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Servais then earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Saint Mary’s University and her Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas. She completed her APA-accredited internship in psychology at the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. With dual licensure in psychology and addictions counseling, licensed by the Minnesota Board of Psychology and the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy, Dr. Servais served for many years as a psychologist within addiction treatment programs. After relocating to Texas in 2020, she became licensed in psychology with the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists and licensed in addiction counseling with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. Dr. Servais joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2020. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
