
Kathryn Sawey, D.O.

Biography
Dr. Kathryn Sawey grew up in Dallas, TX. She worked as an oncology nurse for over 10 years before pursuing her medical training at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York, NY. She completed her Internal Medicine residency in Danville, Virginia and her Geriatrics & Palliative Care fellowship in San Antonio, TX. Her time as attending physician of the inpatient dementia unit and palliative care service at Kerrville VA has given her a wealth of experience helping patients and families to define quality of life while living with cognitive impairment.
Dr. Sawey is currently an attending physician with the palliative care service at Dallas VA and precepts UTSW fellows, residents and medical students. She brings to UTSW a love for medical education and a unique perspective on caring for veterans with a life-limiting illness. Dr. Sawey’s interests outside of medicine include her family, travel, photography and scuba-diving.
