Lieber, M.D., M.S.C.R., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and a member of the Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases. Her clinical practice emphasizes patient-centered care for individuals with advanced liver disease in need of liver transplantation. Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Lieber holds a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She earned her medical degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and completed a residency in internal medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. She then received advanced training in gastroenterology and transplant hepatology through fellowships at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also holds a master’s degree in clinical research from UNC’s Gillings School of Global Public Health. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Lieber joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2020. Dr. Lieber's research interests are focused on survivorship after liver transplantation, including patient-reported and medical outcomes, as well as implementation of health behavior interventions. She serves as an ad hoc reviewer for Liver Transplantation, Hepatology, The American Journal of Bioethics, Pediatric Transplantation, and Clinical Ethics. Dr. Lieber is a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD), the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American Society of Transplantation, and the European Association for the Study of the Liver. Dr. Lieber is the recipient of the 2022-2025 ACG Junior Faculty Development Award, 2021-2022 KL2 Scholar Award, 2018 AASLD Innovation Award and the 2019 AASLD Advanced/Transplant Hepatology Award.
