Biography

Taha Bat, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of Hematology and Oncology. He specializes in bone marrow failure syndromes, porphyria, paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH), pure red cell aplasia (PRCA), aplastic anemia, and large granular lymphocytic (LGL) leukemia.

Originally from Istanbul, Turkey, Dr. Bat earned his medical degree at Hacettepe University and completed a residency in internal medicine at Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown, Ohio. He then received advanced training through fellowships in bone marrow syndromes at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and hematology and oncology at the University at Buffalo/Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in New York.

Dr. Bat joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2020.

Dr. Bat's research interests include cytopenia, hemostasis, and thrombocytopenia, and his investigations have resulted in numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals.

At UT Southwestern, he serves on the Department of Internal Medicine's Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (REDI) Committee.

Dr. Bat has actively championed awareness of bone marrow disorders both nationally and internationally. His contributions extend to his service within the American Society of Hematology.

Personal Note

His interests outside of medicine include biking, cooking, and traveling with his family.
