  • Biography

    Shifa Kanjwal, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of Hematology and Oncology. She specializes in breast medical oncology and has particular interest in cancer survivorship.

    A Kashmiri-American from Ohio, Dr. Kanjwal holds a bachelor's degree in technology and international affairs with a minor in biotechnology and global health from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service in Washington, D.C. She earned her medical degree at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences. She completed internal medicine residency training at Yale New Haven Hospital and received advanced training through a hematology/oncology fellowship at UT Southwestern, where she served as Chief Fellow.

    Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Hematology and Oncology, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2024.

    Her areas of academic interest include breast oncology, health disparities, and healthcare development in conflict areas.

    Dr. Kanjwal is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, and the ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group.

    Personal Note

    Outside of medicine, Dr. Kanjwal enjoys cycling, hiking, and traveling with her family.
