Biography
Dr. Gustavo Hernandez was born in Los Angeles, CA, but grew up in Tijuana, Mexico. He came to the US to study biochemistry and cell biology at the University of California, San Diego. He received his medical training at the University of Illinois, at Chicago. He then completed his residency training at the Osler internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital, in Baltimore, MD. He was drawn to UT Southwestern at Dallas, due to its mission, values, and service to the community. He joined as an academic hospitalist, where his practice emphasizes patient-centered evidence-based medicine. He is interested in patient’s outcomes, precision medicine, medical education, and critical care medicine. Dr. Hernandez interests outside medicine include spending time with family, traveling, trying new restaurants, and sports.
