Anthony Bavry, M.D.

Anthony Bavry, M.D., M.P.H, is an interventional cardiologist in the Division of Cardiology and Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He is the Medical Director of the Structural Heart Program at William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital. He was involved with transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) since it's clinical inception and has performed over 1,000 cumulative TAVR procedures. He is expert in percutaneous therapies for mitral and tricuspid valve disease. He is also interested in the evaluation and treatment of surgical and transcatheter valve dysfunction, including prosthesis deterioration and prosthesis-patient mismatch.

Originally from Sarasota, Dr. Bavry holds a bachelor's degree in zoology. He graduated with honors for research from the University of Florida. He completed internal medicine residency training at the University of Arizona, where he served as Chief Resident. He received advanced training through fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology at the Cleveland Clinic, where he was Chief Interventional Fellow. He also holds a Master of Public Health degree which he received from Harvard University.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in interventional cardiology and cardiovascular medicine, Dr. Bavry joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2020.

Dr. Bavry is an Associate Editor of ACC.org Clinical Trials, the prior Executive Editor of Clinical Cardiology, and a current editorial board member of Clinical Cardiology. 

Dr. Bavry has edited and contributed to numerous books, published scores of academic articles, and delivered invited lectures worldwide.

In 2019, Dr. Bavry received the Fellow’s Choice Award from the American College of Cardiology’s Florida Chapter.
