Biography

Sumitha Alturi, M.B.B.S, M.D., is a Faculty Associate in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of General Internal Medicine.

Originally from India, received her medical education at Ambedkar Medical College in Bangalore, India, and Hurley Medical Center and Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Michigan. She went on to complete internal medicine residency training at Hurley Medical Center. 

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Atluri joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2020.

A knowledgeable, warm, and caring physician, Dr. Sumitha Atluri is known for her attention to detail and her willingness to always listen to patient issues and concerns. Patients trust Dr. Atluri to treat a variety of medical conditions including diabetes, hypertension, thyroid conditions, heart and lung disorders, urinary tract infections, and more.

Dr. Atluri is a member of the Texas Medical Association and the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Atluri is fluent in English. In addition, she also speaks Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada. When not working, she is often seen volunteering for multiple causes with her children, attending painting classes, gardening, and playing with her labrador. She also loves traveling the world with her family.
