Paul Broker, M.D.

Paul Broker, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in primary care and health promotion for all ages; health care transition from pediatric to adult care; adolescent and adult sexual health; HIV prevention, including pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP); general HIV treatment and care; and health care provider wellness and mental health. 

Originally from St. Cloud, Minnesota, Dr. Broker holds a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Minnesota, where he also earned his medical degree. He then completed residency training in internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix, where he served as Chief Resident.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Pediatrics, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2019. 

In addition to being on the front line in providing preventive care and treating acute and chronic conditions, Dr. Broker has delivered numerous national and regional presentations related to HIV screening in urban adolescents. He is a primary care champion for the PrEP Initiative with Parkland HIV Medicine at the Parkland Center for Internal Medicine.

He is a member of the Texas Medical Association, the Dallas County Medical Society, and the American Academy of Pediatrics, among other professional organizations. In 2019, he received the J. Kipp Charlton MD Resident Humanitarian Award for Community Service from the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix.

Dr. Broker enjoys teaching about health promotion and wellness. His goal is to bring together the benefits of medical science and the therapeutic context of a person’s life. Additionally, he partners with his patients to form goals to improve health, with a focus on effective and therapeutic communication. 

Personal Note

In his free time, Dr. Broker enjoys exercising, practicing yoga, rollerblading, cooking, reading and spending time with family and friends.
