She earned her DMD from Oregon Health & Science University School of Dentistry in 2011, and practiced public health and pediatric dentistry in New Mexico for several years. Dr. McLean completed Texas A&M University College of Dentistry's oral and maxillofacial pathology residency program in 2019, becoming a Fellow of the American Academy of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology. The following year, she worked as Dr. Justin Bishop's research assistant at UT Southwestern while completing her MS in oral biology at Texas A&M. Dr. McLean then spent an invaluable year as a Clinical Instructor in head and neck/endocrine pathology at Emory University Hospital, signing out her own cases under the mentorship of Dr. Kelly Magliocca and the Emory HN team. She returned to Dallas in 2021 to work at UT Southwestern with Dr. Bishop, becoming an Asst Professor in the Department of Pathology in 2022. She loves teaching students, residents, and Fellows, employing a supportive Socratic approach with emphasis on learning through vulnerability and open communication. When she's not behind the 'scope, Annie enjoys lifting weights, hot yoga, baking, traveling, and watching Dallas Stars hockey with her fiance Jeff and their three fur babies.
